About Coffee Quitter

Built for the "Impossible" Taper

I didn't build this app to follow a trend. I built it because I was the user who couldn't quit.

At my peak, I was drinking 4+ cups of coffee every day. Like many others, I tried to reclaim my baseline through the standard methods:

  • Cold Turkey: This led to a week of migraines and brain fog before I eventually gave in.
  • Standard Gradual Reduction: I tried to drink slightly less each day, but the schedule was too rigid. One bad night of sleep or a deadline at work would break the plan, and I'd end up right back at my baseline.

The Breakthrough: Flexibility

I only found success when I stopped treating the taper like a straight line. I started experimenting with Zero Days (to reset sensitivity) and Boost/Cheat Days (to handle real-life demands). This "flexible" approach was the only thing that stuck.

However, managing this manually was a nightmare. I would forget my start dates, lose track of my current "allowance," and eventually, my usage would start creeping back up without me noticing.

Why Coffee Quitter Exists

I realized that if I wanted a permanent change, I needed a system that was more than just a calendar. I needed an app that could:

  1. Do the math: Calculate exact weekly reductions so I didn't have to think about it.
  2. Allow for life: Provide "Boost" and "Reset" day logic for a schedule that actually works in the real world.
  3. Prevent the "Creep": Provide a way to keep tracking after the initial quit to ensure my caffeine intake didn't slowly return to old levels.

As an engineer used to working with hardware and software that requires high precision, I brought that same mindset to this app. Coffee Quitter isn't just a tracker; it's the tool I wish I had five years ago.
